5 People Reacting to the Same Thing - Series One, Two & Three
Our social veneer varies depending on our environment - what we choose to reveal to new acquaintances, work colleagues and sexual partners differs dramatically - but rarely is it more rigidly erected than when faced with a camera.
Why? Because that tiny little box holds the potential to reproduce our image, our visual currency, a million times over. Therefore, when we are aware of such disastrous or resplendent (depending on ones own self-image) reproductive possibilities we become extremely self-aware and determined to compose our most endearing qualities for consumption.
With ‘5 People Reacting to the Same Thing – Series 1, 2 & 3’ I have removed this veneer by placing the subject in a situation where they are forced, momentarily, to forget about the cameras presence. The outcome is a series of images where the viewer is presented with an uninhibited emotion, rather than a response that the subject has chosen to reveal.
